
Overview
Students will learn how to browse and find information on the Internet by using Netscape 6, how to customize Netscape 6, and use Netscape Mail and Netscape Instant Messenger.
You will acquire the necessary skills needed to master searching on the Web.
Course Objectives
Prerequisites
Windows 95: Introduction, Windows 98: Introduction, Windows 2000: Introduction, Windows NT Workstation 4.0: Orientation, or equivalent knowledge.
Target Student
Students enrolling in this course should understand how to use Windows applications and have experience using the mouse.
Lesson objectives help students become comfortable with the course, and also
provide a means to evaluate learning. Upon successful completion of this course,
students will be able to: * Describe the requirements for connecting to the Internet and identify
the components of and navigate in the Netscape 6 Navigator window. * Use a variety of search techniques to find Web sites that contain
useful information. * Use bookmarks to maintain links to particularly useful sites. * Customize the Netscape Navigator environment by working with My
Sidebar, the Personal toolbar, and themes. * Communicate with other Internet users by using Netscape Mail and the
Personal Address Book. * Communicate instantly with coworkers and friends by using Netscape
Instant Messenger.

Hardware/Software Requirements
- A Pentium, 133 MHz or higher processor.
- A minimum of 32 MB of RAM.
- A minimum of 15 MB of available hard-disk space.
- A CD-ROM drive.
- A VGA or higher resolution monitor. (Super VGA is recommended.)
- A compatible pointing device.
- Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, or Windows NT 4.0.
- A Recommended installation of Netscape 6.
- Although printers are not required, you will need an installed printer driver.
- A classroom connection to the Internet.
- An email account for each student.
